Downtown Augusta is seeing a big resurgence now that the cyber movement has hit the city.
Investors and businesses are snapping up real estate in order to build hotels, parking decks and relocate their businesses into the downtown area. The cyber movement has supercharged what is referred to as the Business District in Augusta.
The best place to eat and be seen in the downtown business district is at the Pinnacle Club. On any given day you will see civic leaders, business owners and the town’s movers and shakers.
I personally have been a Member for years and love hosting business events at the Club.
In 1963, William Morris III saw a need for Augusta to have a city club to conduct the town’s professional business and social affairs.
The location chosen was 699 Broad Street. The Club incorporated in 1965 and construction began soon after. The doors officially opened on September 5, 1967.
The Club itself consists of the top two floors of what was the Georgia Railroad Bank building. Now, 50 years later, it’s the Augusta University building.
What sets the Club apart from other places?
One of the best parts about the Club is the view. You can see the entire city from the 17th floor.
The food, of course, is great, but I must say that one of the best parts about the Club is that all I have to do is pick up the phone and call the Club and they will accommodate anything I need. This could be either a private room for a business meeting, or just a nice quiet dinner with my beautiful wife.
Here is a pic of me and my lovely wife in the hallway on the 16th floor taken by the Club’s Membership Director Ashley Hock Smith.
An Invaluable Asset for Augusta
The Club is an invaluable asset in the center of downtown Augusta. As world class companies move to town, they will need a place for their management teams to dine and a place to host clients. The Club is perfect for this as it offers corporate and personal memberships alike.
Example: The Fort Gordon Cyber Center of Excellence team needed a place to host their Cyber Quest 2017 social. They were pressed for time so I suggested the Pinnacle Club.
The Club was packed and I had the honor of speaking to the group about starting cyber businesses in Augusta,GA. Major General John B. Morrison, commanding general of Fort Gordon, also spoke at the event.
It all worked out perfectly and people from UK, Australia, France, Italy, Netherlands and Japan got to experience the Club’s atmosphere.
This is a great example of how the Club can be utilized.
Invest Augusta is also holding an “After Party” for the Invest Augusta Conference at the Club. I hope to see you at the Conference on September 28th and then at the after party. All Conference ticket holders are welcome.
The Club’s Future
The future for the Pinnacle Club looks bright. As Augusta grows by leaps and bounds over the next several years, the Club will be there to accommodate business and social events.
If you have never visited the Pinnacle Club and are interested in becoming a member, contact me. I guarantee you will enjoy the experience.
The Pinnacle Club is, without a doubt, the best business social club in Augusta,GA!
